Wendy Low, the newest member of the NCSCE team, brings experience with informal science education and civic engagement to current projects related to SENCER-ISE. Wendy will support partners engaged in SENCER-ISE work through the Partnership Champions program, funded through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and Maximizing Collective Impact, which is supported by the National Science Foundation’s Advancing Informal STEM Learning (AISL) program. She will also work with KQED and the Do Now U project.
Wendy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Denver, where she also was an active member of the Social Justice Living and Learning Community. In 2015, Wendy moved to Washington, D.C. to take part in a service corps year where she worked at Yachad DC, a nonprofit that repairs homes for low-income families. At Yachad, Wendy coordinated educational opportunities for young adults. Every month, Wendy volunteers in the Q?rius Exhibit at the National Museum of Natural History, utilizing inquiry based learning to engage with visitors of all ages. In her spare time, Wendy can be found teaching children and adults about rock climbing or scaling up the wall herself.
Wendy is most excited to build relationships with partners working across the country on ISE projects. To connect with Wendy, please email wendy.ncsce@gmail.com.
